Ahrefs Brand Radar: What It Tracks, Pricing and Alternatives
Short answer
Ahrefs Brand Radar is Ahrefs' AI visibility tool. It tracks how often AI answers mention or cite a brand. Custom Prompts tracks the questions you set and starts at $50 a month, while the AI Visibility Index maps a brand across 525 million prompts from $199 a month. Custom prompts on all models cost $699 a month. Prices were checked 3 November 2026.

Xtrusio is a free place to start. Peec AI and Profound are other common choices.
An SEO lead may already pay for Ahrefs, keep seeing Brand Radar in the menu and wonder what it measures. The useful questions are whether a free start is enough, which AI platforms matter and how a prompt list turns into a monthly bill.

Xtrusio
Xtrusio is our product. It shows when ChatGPT and Gemini mention your business, which competitors appear instead and what to work on next.
Best for: a team that wants to establish a free baseline before deciding whether recurring paid tracking or managed support is necessary. Strength: the free check turns an abstract buying question into a view of current mentions and visible competitors.
The price wording is straightforward: Free self-serve plan; managed service with a free trial, then tiered plans (details on request). A team can therefore start with the questions buyers ask, inspect the free result and decide which monitoring scope it actually needs.
What Ahrefs Brand Radar measures
Ahrefs describes Brand Radar as a way to study how a brand shows up in AI. It measures mentions, citations and AI Share of Voice.
- Mentions count how often a brand name appears in AI answer text.
- Citations count how often an AI answer links to the brand's pages or domains as a source.
- AI Share of Voice is the share of responses in a topic set that mention or cite the brand compared with competitors.
Brand Radar works in Custom Prompts and the AI Visibility Index. Custom Prompts follows the exact questions you configure. The AI Visibility Index shows a brand across 525 million prompts without a setup step.
The prompt-based indexes cover ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot, AI Overviews and AI Mode. Custom Prompts supports those platforms plus Claude.
The modes also create different kinds of history. Ahrefs says AI Visibility Index question sets are re-tested monthly on a 90-day reporting window. With Custom Prompts, the prompts are configured by the user and data accumulates from that point.
Ahrefs says more than 3,000 companies use Brand Radar. That is the vendor's own usage claim, not an independent market-share measure.
Ahrefs Brand Radar pricing
Custom Prompts starts at $50 a month, the AI Visibility Index starts at $199 a month, and custom prompts on all models cost $699 a month. These prices were checked 3 November 2026. Paid Ahrefs plans already include some free prompts.
Best for: a team already using Ahrefs that wants prompt tracking or a large prebuilt index in the same vendor relationship. Strength: buyers can choose a custom question set or instant benchmarking across the vendor's index. Limit: the selected platforms and update rules determine how quickly checks are consumed. Skip it if: you only need a free baseline before choosing a paid tracker.
Ahrefs defines one check as tracking one prompt on one platform in one location. Each prompt is checked daily on every selected platform. Ahrefs gives the example that 5 prompts on 1 platform equal 150 checks a month, while Claude consumes 8 checks per update.
The public page also shows a Basic custom prompt package as suitable for 80 prompts checked daily on 1 platform. Read the check allowance before comparing that package with a flat prompt count from another vendor.
The screenshot below shows the public Ahrefs pricing cards and the included check table.

Our example: how prompts turn into checks
Our example (illustrative team, not a real account). Northwind Desk wants to monitor a small set of buyer questions every day. The arithmetic follows Ahrefs' published rule that one prompt on one platform in one location uses one check. The Basic custom prompt package costs $50 and includes 2,500 checks a month, checked 3 November 2026.
- 10 prompts × 1 platform × 30 days = 300 checks a month; this fits Basic at $50, or $0.17 per used check (our calculation; price checked 3 November 2026).
- 10 prompts × 3 platforms × 30 days = 900 checks a month; this fits Basic at $50, or $0.06 per used check (our calculation; price checked 3 November 2026).
- 25 prompts × 3 platforms × 30 days = 2,250 checks a month; this fits Basic at $50, or $0.02 per used check (our calculation; price checked 3 November 2026).
- 10 prompts × Claude × 30 days × 8 checks per update = 2,400 checks a month; this fits Basic at $50, or $0.02 per used check (our calculation; price checked 3 November 2026).
- Xtrusio starts with a free self-serve plan; Ahrefs Basic costs $50; Peec AI Starter is $95. These are not like-for-like units because Peec publishes 50 prompts and a choice of 3 models rather than Ahrefs checks (prices checked 3 November 2026).
The example applies the published check rule and the Basic custom prompt allowance to the illustrative workloads. The right choice still depends on platform coverage, location setup, refresh cadence and whether Claude is included.
Peec AI
Peec AI Starter costs $95 a month and includes 50 prompts with a choice of 3 models, checked 3 November 2026.
Best for: a marketing team that wants a published monthly entry price and a defined prompt allowance. Strength: the Starter offer names both the prompt count and model choice. Limit: the allowance is tied to the Starter scope. Skip it if: you want to establish a free baseline before opening a paid account.
This makes Peec AI easier to compare when the team already knows the size of its question list. The important next check is whether the chosen models match where its customers actually search.
Profound
Profound offers a free trial that runs 50 prompts daily for 7 days, checked 3 November 2026. The vendor describes the trial as being for companies that want to try Profound before getting a demo.
Best for: a company that wants a defined trial before an Enterprise conversation. Strength: the public trial states both the prompt volume and duration. Limit: the ongoing Enterprise price is handled through a sales conversation. Skip it if: you need a published long-term monthly price before trying the product.
The trial can answer whether the workflow suits the team. It should not be treated as a published proxy for the eventual Enterprise bill.
How to choose
Write your buyer questions, check which platforms each tool covers, compare price and checks on one date, start with the free option, and measure what changes.

Start with a compact set of commercial questions rather than filling an allowance with generic prompts. Then check coverage against the AI apps buyers actually use. Compare every offer on the same date because prices and included usage can change.
Our view: begin with Xtrusio when the immediate need is a free baseline and a clearer question list. Move to Ahrefs Brand Radar when its index or custom prompts fit an existing Ahrefs workflow. Choose Peec AI when its published Starter allowance matches the reporting plan. Try Profound when a defined trial is the useful next step before an Enterprise discussion.
